AyMON
Editions & Licensing
Start free
An engine with no licence file is not crippled. It is a small plant.
With no licence at all AyMON runs the FREE edition. It never expires, it includes every protocol and every plug-in, and within its limits you may use it for anything — commercial and production use included. FREE is also the edition for personal projects; there is no separate personal licence.
Cluster, replication, RPC and MCP are not switched off without a licence: they work between engines on one machine and are refused towards another one. So you can learn every commercial feature end to end. What is sold is the second machine — and more connections, devices and users.

How a licence works
A signed file, read once at start
One plain-text file
AyMON.lic is signed. Any edit breaks the signature and the engine falls back to FREE, saying so in its log.
Bound to its place
A licence is issued for a machine and a project; copied elsewhere it is reported and not used.
Nothing stops at run time
The decision is made at start. A plant does not stop because a date passed; a new licence means a restart.
One line tells the truth
The start-up log names the edition, the limits and the features that are off — and why.
Patents
Patent pending
The AyMON engine implements mechanisms described in Canadian patent application No. 3,307,314, Deterministic Event-Driven Industrial Execution Engine with Unified Bitfield State Architecture and Type-Driven Queue Scheduling, filed on 6 April 2026 and pending. AKYA Canada Inc. holds an exclusive licence to it.
Running the AyMON engine as its licence permits — the FREE edition included — includes the right to practise the application as far as running the engine needs. It does not include a licence to implement the described mechanisms in another engine, product or service, and neither do the example projects, which configure and describe them.

Online licensing is being prepared
Buying and renewing AyMON licences online, with the machine binding done for you, is coming to this site. Until then, licences are issued by e-mail: write to licensing@aymon.ca with your project, the number of connections and devices, and whether you need cluster or replication across machines.
Talk to us about a licence
Commercial licences, support and partner terms for integrators are handled by AKYA Canada.
